Not all kids like the full body deep pressure of a weighted blanket. But kids may still want that deep pressure feel in certain parts of their body. OR kids may benefit from a weighted blanket but can’t take it everywhere… like school, in the car, or restaurants. This is where weighted lap pads and weighted shoulder wraps come into play.
Weighted lap pads provide the same deep pressure, like a hug, that weighted blankets provide, but are smaller, easier to transport, and only cover a small portion of the body.
Weighted shoulder wraps also provide deep pressure, but only around the shoulders. Kids feel a deep pressure on their shoulders making them feel grounded, held down, and calm. Some wraps can be heated in the microwave, or cooled in the freezer and are very easier to wear out and about than taking a heavy, giant weighted blanket. LakiKid Sensory Weighted Neck Pillow is a cute puppy design that is perfectly weighted and sized for kids. It does not say if it can be heated or cooled, so I would be cautious before throwing it in the microwave.
