Now that my three kids are a bit older, they are more curious about the world. My husband is a history teacher and has always wanted a good world map in the play room for the kids to look at. He remembers when he was a kid staring at sports posters on his walls when he couldn’t sleep and ended up memorizing every fact on them. He said as an adult, it would’ve been great to have something educational to memorize, hence wanting a world map.
I thought all maps were created equal, but according to him, they are not. This Academia Maps World Map Wall Mural was the most “correct” and visually stimulating according to him, and removable, which I loved.
We both liked how the capitals were listed, each country is in a different color, and according to him, “Africa is appropriately sized”…which apparently is not the case in other maps.
I have to say the kids really enjoy staring at it, asking questions, and pointing out different countries they hear mentioned on TV. I was worried about having a giant map on a wall in our house, but I have to admit, it looks rather nice. It’s also so easy to point out exactly where someone/TV is talking about without having to pull up a picture on the phone, or finding a map/globe.
Plus, did I mention IT’S REMOVABLE!!!! It was very easy to install. It is a self-adhesive fabric which will make it easy to remove because it won’t tear as some removable stickers do. It comes in a variety of sizes, the one I purchased is the 53″x36″, which fit the space nicely….. not too big and not too small. I highly recommend this map for any room in the house.
